ACCA Management Accounting
Management Accounting (MA) is a core paper in the ACCA Applied Knowledge module. It introduces students to the techniques and concepts that enable management accountants to provide relevant information for planning, decision making, performance measurement, and control within organisations.
The paper covers the nature and purpose of management information, data analysis and statistical techniques, cost accounting methods including absorption and marginal costing, budgeting processes, standard costing and variance analysis, and performance measurement.
MA provides the essential quantitative and analytical skills that form the basis for more advanced management accounting studies at the Applied Skills level, particularly Performance Management (PM) and at the Strategic Professional level in Advanced Performance Management (APM).
MA develops core management accounting skills valued across all industries. These skills are essential for roles in management accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting, and business planning — forming the quantitative backbone of a successful accounting career.
